【關東】東京都:隅田川花火大會

因疫情而停辦4年的隅田川花火大會將在本年復辨,而這亦是東京市中心最盛大的煙花匯演!花火大會據說起源於1733年,第 8 代幕府將軍德川吉宗為了祈求飢荒結束並驅逐惡靈,而於兩國河開幕式上燃點煙火。隅田川花火大會分為兩個會場,各自由不同的煙火業者負責;而大會每年吸引近百萬人觀賞,璀璨的煙火配以晴空塔繽紛的燈光裝飾,照亮東京夏日的黑夜。

【關東】靜岡縣・山梨縣:登富士山

富士山登山的開放時間為每年 7 月上旬至 9 月上旬,登山旺季則為7月下旬至8月下旬;不少人會藉此機會登上山頂並欣賞美麗的日出。富士山分為10個「合目」(站),而四條登山路線均會從各自的第五合目開始。需要留意的是,登山路線會因惡劣天氣而關閉,亦有不同難易度之分。因此在決定登上富士山前,建議配合行程謹慎計劃登山時間及做好萬全準備!

【關西】京都府:祇園祭

祇園祭是日本最盛大的祭典之一,可追溯至平安時代869年。起源自京都曾爆發嚴重瘟疫,故於祇園社立起大鉾祭拜祇園之神,以祈求疫病退散及除去厄災。祇園祭分為迎神的「神幸祭」及送神的「還幸祭」,在巡行路線上可見華麗的神轎通過京都的大街。而在來回程中會有多達數十座山鉾巡行,絢爛精緻的造型各有含意和特色,為巡行的一大看點!

秩父夜祭是「日本三大花車節」之一,至今已有近300年歷史。祭典分為前夜祭及大祭,除了會施放煙火外,亦會有花車於街區巡遊。前夜祭稱為「宵宮」,由近200人拖行前進、過十公噸重的巨大屋型花車(屋台)為一大亮點!而在次日的「大祭」中,眾人一口氣把花車推上斜坡的一幕更是巡遊最高潮!豪華絢麗的煙火映照著花車上搖曳的燈籠,形成冬夜中的奪目風景。

Hasedera Temple in Kamakura is a famous destination for flower enthusiast, boasting a variety of blooms throughout the year. However, it is particularly well-known for its hydrangeas. 【Kanto】Tokyo: Sumida River Fireworks Festival

After a 4-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Sumida River Fireworks Festival is returning this year, presenting the most spectacular fireworks display in the heart of Tokyo! Legend has it the festival originated in 1733 when the 8th Shogun, Tokugawa Yoshimune, launched fireworks to pray for an end to famine and drive away evil spirits during the establishment ceremony of Ryogoku River. The Sumida River Fireworks Festival is held in two venues managed by different fireworks experts. The event attracts nearly a million spectators every year and illuminates Tokyo’s summer nights with dazzling fireworks, along with the brilliant light decorations of the Tokyo Skytree.

【Kanto】Shizuoka Prefecture & Yamanashi Prefecture: Climbing Mount Fuji

The climbing season for Mount Fuji spans from early July to early September, with the peak period taking place between late July and late August. Hiking enthusiasts usually seize this opportunity to ascend to the summit and marvel at the beautiful sunrise. Mount Fuji is divided into 10 stations with the first at the bottom and the tenth at the top. And for the four trails leading up to the summit, they all start at the 5th stations. Keep in mind that the climbing routes may be temporarily closed due to unfavourable weather conditions, and the level of difficulty can vary. As such, it is advisable to plan and make comprehensive preparations before embarking on the journey to climb Mount Fuji!

【Kansai】 Kyoto Prefecture: Gion Matsuri

Originating in the Heian period in 869, Gion Matsuri stands as one of Japans most splendid festivals. The event was conceived in response to a devastating epidemic that swept through Kyoto, prompting the locals to construct a large float at the Gion Shrine. By worshipping the deity of Gion, they hoped to overcome the plague and dispel misfortune. Gion Matsuri comprises two distinct parts: the Shinko-sai, which welcomes the deities, and the Kanko-sai, which bids them farewell. Along the parade route, onlookers can marvel at the dazzling floats traversing Kyotos streets. The procession features dozens of intricately adorned floats, each boasting its own symbolism and unique characteristics, creating a truly spectacular spectacle for everyone.

【Kanto】Chichibu: Chichibu Night Festival

Chichibu Night Festival is one of Japan’s top three festivals to feature floats, with a tich history spanning nearly 300 years. Held on December 2 and 3, the main action of the Festival takes place on latter date. In addition to fireworks, the event features decorative floats parading through the streets. A highlight of the Festival Day is spectacle of a massive over ten-ton float (yatai) being pulled by nearly 200 people along the street! The Festival day reaches when one float after the other is hauled up the slope onto the plaza, forming an impressive lineup! Onlookers can marvel at the extravagant fireworks illuminate the swaying lanterns on the floats, creating a mesmerizing sight.
